Same ChatGPT. Different Answers. Here’s Why.
Two people can ask ChatGPT about the same general topic and get completely different recommendations.
That happened recently when a friend and I were both researching print-on-demand companies.
Her biggest concern was finding a company that handles the sales tax side of things for her. Based on what she told ChatGPT mattered most, it recommended Fourthwall.
I was researching the same general topic, but my priorities were different, so I was getting different recommendations.
Neither of us necessarily asked the wrong question.
ChatGPT was responding to the information each of us gave it.
That’s one of the most important things to understand when using AI:
Context matters.
The more ChatGPT understands about what you’re trying to accomplish, what matters most to you, and what your limitations are, the more useful the answer can become.
Instead of asking:
“What’s the best print-on-demand company?”
You might say:
“I’m looking for a print-on-demand company. I’m a beginner, I want something easy to manage, I don’t want to hold inventory, and I’d prefer a company that handles as much of the sales-tax process as possible. What should I look at?”
Same tool. Better context. More useful answer.
That’s why I always tell people: talk to ChatGPT like you would talk to a person helping you solve the problem. Give it the whole picture. 💻
